Patchwork, Bray, County Wicklow

'Patchwork', Killarney Road, Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland, 1973

Design and built for a client before he got married, a home for his future wife and family? Fundamentally completed in 1975 (?), his new bride arrived, the house was later extended in accordance with a plan prepared at the outset, and the family grew to three children. Still occupied by that client and his wife 40 years later, the three children grew up in the house, and one of those children went on to study architecture in Dundee Scotland (where I studied), and now has his own architecture practice. Published in the Architects' Journal, with a review by Deyan Sudjic (which he probably does not remember). the text of the article tells the story.
